What's New at Victory Ranch

Darcy Weisner, daughter of Ken and Carol, just celebrated her sixth year as manager of Victory Ranch Alpacas. In the beginning, Darcy worked side by side with her parents both with the animals and at the store. She was a natural. Today, Darcy can tell you the name of every alpaca by sight and can include all pertinent information of each animal. (There are over 200 alpacas at Victory Ranch.) She has taken courses in homeopathy and has worked with the local veterinarians making her a master at diagnosing and treating her alpaca herd.

Three years ago, Ken was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. For two years, Ken was treated extensively in Arkansas and Darcy stepped up to the plate and was totally in charge. She has been the main boss ever since and does an amazing job.

This month Darcy is spending time in Arequipa, Peru at the International Alpaca Fiesta. She is taking classes, touring factories and visiting alpaca ranches. Ken and Carol had made many buying trips to Peru for the Victory Ranch store. They made many friends, one of whom sponsored a prize at the Fiesta in honor of Ken's memory. Darcy was there to present the prize.

Everyone at Victory Ranch Alpacas mourns the loss of Ken. He is lovingly remembered and sorely missed. However, Darcy has had excellent training and experience and she will continue to do what she has done for the past several years. Mom, Carol, continues to work at the ranch and has gotten used to taking direction from her very capable daughter. Darcy has added outstanding new bloodlines with additional herdsires and has made Victory Ranch Alpacas one of the most respected and well-known alpaca businesses in the nation.
